At Adelaide Olympic FC, our MiniRoos program is the heart of our junior development, offering young boys and girls aged 4 to 11 the perfect introduction to soccer.

We believe that the foundation of every great player starts with a love for the game, and that’s exactly what MiniRoos is all about - fun, learning, and fostering a passion for soccer in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our MiniRoos program is designed to be more than just soccer training. It’s a place where children can develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, and resilience, all while having a great time on the field. Through carefully structured sessions, our experienced coaches focus on teaching the basic skills of soccer, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending. These skills are taught through engaging drills and small-sided games that encourage participation and ensure that every child gets plenty of touches on the ball.

We understand that each child is unique, which is why our program is tailored to accommodate different skill levels and abilities. Whether your child is taking their first steps in soccer or has been kicking a ball around for a while, MiniRoos at Adelaide Olympic FC offers an environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive. Our coaches are dedicated to creating a positive atmosphere where children feel safe, encouraged, and motivated to improve, all while making new friends and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team.

One of the key features of our MiniRoos program is the emphasis on small-sided games. These games allow children to be more involved in the action, giving them more opportunities to touch the ball, make decisions, and experience the joy of scoring goals.

This format not only makes the game more enjoyable for young players but also helps in their overall development, as they learn to think quickly, work together, and apply the skills they’ve been taught in real-game situations.

But MiniRoos at Adelaide Olympic FC is about more than just soccer. It’s about creating a community where children and their families feel connected and supported. We believe in building strong relationships between players, coaches, and parents, fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our club. Our program also emphasises the importance of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play, teaching children the values that will serve them well both on and off the field.

We know that for many of our MiniRoos, this is the beginning of their soccer journey, and we’re committed to making it a memorable and positive experience. Whether your child dreams of playing professionally one day or simply wants to enjoy the game with friends, our MiniRoos program provides the perfect platform to ignite their passion and develop their skills.

So, why not give your child the chance to be part of something special? Join the Adelaide Olympic FC MiniRoos program and watch as your child grows in confidence, skill, and love for the beautiful game. It’s more than just soccer—it’s the start of an exciting and rewarding journey that will lay the groundwork for a lifelong connection to the sport

  • Age brackets are categorised by year of birth. For example, if the child turns 10 in 2025, the child will be in the 10s team.

Allocating a player outside of their expected age bracket is at the Juniors Technical Director, Coaches and the Juniors Coordinator’s discretion. An exemption may also need to be sought by the Football Federation, particularly if a child plays below their age group (i.e. has never played soccer before).

  •

We accommodate multiple boys, girls and some mixed teams ranging in age groups from U6s to U16s. Primarily teams are formed on a first come (registered) first serve basis.

In some instances, we may have more than one team in the same age group. In these circumstances, we will consider requests for players to play in the same team as their friends, however, please be aware that these requests may not always be granted subject to restricted availability.

At the discretion of the club and coaches teams may also be formed based on a players ability, Training between teams at times can be combined, however team separation for some training drills aids tailored training sessions that best suits players abilities, supporting player development.

  • Players qualify for their age group based on their age as at 31 Dec last year. For example, a player in Under 9 must be 8 as at 31 December last year or in other words, turns 9 during the year they are playing in.

  • Only a limited number of children may play down an age group (according to FFSA regulations).

Playing up may be considered depending on several factors such as player numbers, individual skill etc. This is at the discretion of the club.

Occasionally players may be invited to play up or down an age group to allow for appropriate numbers in teams.

  • Generally, we only take requests for siblings to play together or players who need to travel together. We will do our best to meet requests, although it may mean allocating a child to a lower or higher age group than may otherwise be the case.

  • At Adelaide Olympic FC, the safety and well-being of our young players are our top priorities. That's why we ensure that all our coaches are fully qualified and hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

This mandatory requirement helps create a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive both on and off the pitch. By upholding the highest standards of child safety, our club demonstrates its unwavering commitment to fostering a positive and secure space for every player to learn, grow, and enjoy the game.
