Lucas Botsos Receives Len Alagich Award as State League 1 Reserve Player of the Year

Adelaide Olympic FC is delighted to celebrate Lucas Botsos, who has been recognised as State League 1 Reserve Player of the Year, receiving the Len Alagich Award at the Football South Australia 2026 Celebration of Football.

Reserve football is an important part of a club's overall football structure. It provides players with a competitive environment in which to develop their abilities, gain experience, build confidence and contribute to the broader ambitions of their club. It is also an important part of maintaining a strong football program, with depth, competition and player development all contributing to the health of a team.

The Reserve Player of the Year award recognises achievement within this environment and offers an opportunity to celebrate the players who make a meaningful contribution to their teams throughout the season.

Football development is rarely a straight line. Players progress at different rates, take on new challenges and work towards their individual goals while continuing to support their teammates. Reserve football plays an important role in that journey, providing a platform for players to test themselves, improve and pursue further opportunities within the game.

Success at this level requires commitment and a willingness to keep working. Training, preparation and match-day performance all contribute to a player's development, while the collective nature of the game reinforces the importance of teamwork and shared responsibility.

Lucas's recognition is a proud moment for Adelaide Olympic. The Len Alagich Award provides an opportunity to acknowledge his achievement and celebrate the importance of our Reserve program within the club.

At Adelaide Olympic, we recognise that a strong club is built across every team and every level of the football program. Our senior and reserve teams are part of a broader club community, connected through a shared identity, a passion for football and a commitment to representing Adelaide Olympic with pride.

The contribution of reserve players is an important part of that picture. Their performances, development and commitment help strengthen the overall football program, while the opportunities provided through reserve football support the continued growth of players and teams.

Awards such as the Len Alagich Award also allow clubs to celebrate achievement beyond the most visible headlines of a season. They recognise the importance of the entire squad structure and the players who work hard to make their mark in a competitive environment.

For Lucas, being named State League 1 Reserve Player of the Year is a significant individual achievement. For Adelaide Olympic, it is another opportunity to celebrate the people who contribute to our football community and take pride in the club's representation across the competition.

We congratulate Lucas on receiving the Len Alagich Award and thank him for his contribution to Adelaide Olympic. We look forward to seeing him continue his football journey in the years ahead.

Congratulations, Lucas, on a fantastic achievement!
