Ali Aqil Wins the Bob Telfer Medal as State League 1 Player of the Year

Adelaide Olympic FC is proud to celebrate Ali Aqil, who has been named State League 1 Player of the Year and awarded the Bob Telfer Medal at the Football South Australia 2026 Celebration of Football.

Adelaide Olympic FC is delighted to congratulate Ali Aqil on receiving the Bob Telfer Medal, having been recognised as State League 1 Player of the Year at the Football South Australia 2026 Celebration of Football.

The Player of the Year award is one of the competition's most significant individual honours. It recognises a player whose contribution has earned recognition at the highest level of the league and provides an opportunity to celebrate the talent, dedication and quality that make football such a compelling sport.

For Ali, receiving the Bob Telfer Medal is a major achievement and a proud moment for Adelaide Olympic. Being recognised as Player of the Year places his name among the individuals celebrated for their contribution to State League 1 during the 2026 season.

Football is a team sport, but individual awards provide an important opportunity to acknowledge the players who make a particular impression throughout a season. The best players bring more than technical ability to the pitch. They contribute to the team's ambitions through their preparation, commitment, decision-making and willingness to take responsibility when it matters.

Success over a full season also requires consistency. Football presents different challenges each week, and players must continually adapt to their opponents, their teammates and the demands of competition. Recognition at this level celebrates achievement across that broader journey, rather than a single performance or moment.

Ali's award also highlights the talent within State League 1 and the importance of continuing to create an environment where players can challenge themselves, contribute to their teams and pursue their football ambitions.

The Bob Telfer Medal is a fitting occasion to acknowledge Ali's achievement and the recognition he has earned within the competition. It is a significant personal milestone and one that Adelaide Olympic is proud to share with its members, supporters, players and wider community.

We congratulate Ali on this outstanding honour and thank him for representing Adelaide Olympic. Individual awards are important milestones, but they are also part of the ongoing story of a club and the people who help shape it.

Congratulations, Ali, on winning the Bob Telfer Medal and being named State League 1 Player of the Year.
